The Dutch Sourdough Starter Whisk 🥖
Why I made this whisk
When I first started baking sourdough, mixing my starter always felt harder than it should be. It held on to the spoon, stuck to the sides of the jar and never dissolved the way I hoped. And because the jar opening was small, most tools simply did not fit. Every feeding took more scraping than stirring.
I wanted something small, simple and made for this one task. A tool that fits inside a starter jar and moves through thick starter without effort. A true sourdough starter stirring tool, made for daily use.
That became the Dutch Starter Whisk. Light, easy to hold and shaped to reach every corner of your jar. The open wire design breaks up the starter quickly so it mixes into water within seconds.
Handmade in the Netherlands 🪵
Each whisk is made by hand in a small workshop in the Netherlands. The handle is made from natural beechwood. It is left untreated to show the pale grain and the clean look of the wood. Every handle is shaped and sanded by hand, so no two are exactly the same. You can leave the wood as it is or oil it yourself if you prefer a warmer tone.
The stainless steel is produced in Italy and selected for its strength and clean finish. The handle includes a small hanging hole so you can store it on a hook or rack if you like keeping your tools within reach.
